I once made the decision to ride my push bike along Punt Road from Bridge Road, Richmond, all the way up to High Street, Northcote. As a cyclist, I'm still not sure why I chose this horrendously dangerous route. Perhaps I was feeling suicidal that day, perhaps I just wasn't thinking. Needless to say, it was one of the most horrifying cycling experiences of my life, with trucks, cars and buses roaring past me at 70km/h on my humble little bicycle. Somehow, I survived, but these days I seldom venture near that monumental beast of a road, such is the emotional scarring I still bear from that traumatic day.
